Mauri琀椀us and India Collaborate on Financial Crime Training
On Monday, 22 September 2025, a
昀椀ve-day training programme on ‘Money
Laundering Investigations and Asset
Recovery’ was launched at the Financial
Crimes Commission (FCC) Headquarters
in Moka, attended by Junior Minister
Dhaneshwar Damry.
Present at the event were the Deputy High
Commissioner of India, Mr. Vimarsh Aryan;
the Special Director of Enforcement,
Directorate of Enforcement (ED), India,
Mr. Manu Ten琀椀wal; Ac琀椀ng FCC DirectorGeneral Mr. Titrudeo Dawoodarry; and
other dignitaries.
In his speech, Junior Minister Damry
emphasized the importance of maintaining
a transparent and trustworthy 昀椀nancial
sector, which employs around 15,000
people and contributes approximately
9% to the economy. He stressed that
comba琀椀ng 昀椀nancial crimes is vital and that
e昀昀ec琀椀ve training and resources are key
to strengthening the FCC’s capabili琀椀es,
suppor琀椀ng a robust regulatory framework,
and ensuring swi昀琀 law enforcement.
Deputy High Commissioner Aryan
highlighted that this programme marks
a new chapter in India–Mauritius
coopera琀椀on and will support Mauri琀椀us in
its upcoming Financial Ac琀椀on Task Force
(FATF) mutual evalua琀椀on.
The Ac琀椀ng Director-General of the FCC
noted that the training would enhance the
Commission’s ability to conduct complex
financial investigations with greater
e昀케ciency and accuracy.
Organized collabora琀椀vely by the FCC and
India’s ED, the training runs from 22 to 26
September 2025 and aims to boost the
inves琀椀ga琀椀ve skills of 60 newly recruited
FCC o昀케cers and par琀椀cipants from the
Na琀椀onal Coordina琀椀on Commi琀琀ee (NCC)
member ins琀椀tu琀椀ons.
This ini琀椀a琀椀ve follows the March 2025
signing of an MoU between the ED
and FCC, focusing on capacity building,
knowledge sharing, and best prac琀椀ces
in fighting financial crimes. The
programme aims to improve par琀椀cipants’
understanding of legal frameworks,
international cooperation, and joint
opera琀椀on strategies in money laundering
and asset recovery.
Minister Mahomed Emphasizes Data-Driven Policies for Land Transport
On Friday 19 September 2025, the Minister
of Land Transport, Mr. Osman Mahomed,
convened a mee琀椀ng with members of the
Road Transport Advisory Board (RTAB),
following its recent recons琀椀tu琀椀on on 20
June 2025 under sec琀椀on 178B of the
Road Tra昀케c Act. The Chairperson of the
Board, Mr. Ham Sharma Kowlessur, was
also in a琀琀endance.
During his address, Minister Mahomed
outlined the primary responsibili琀椀es of
the RTAB as s琀椀pulated by its mandate.
These include advising the Minister on
policies related to land transport planning,
assessing the 昀椀nancial sustainability and
structure of the bus industry, determining
the level of government assistance in road
transport ma琀琀ers and proposing policies
concerning road transport pricing.
The Minister stressed that e昀昀ec琀椀ve policy
formula琀椀on and decision-making should
be based on accurate informa琀椀on and
dependable data. He highlighted that such
data are currently lacking and emphasized
the need to establish clear indicators to
enable the collec琀椀on of comprehensive
datasets.
Mr. Mahomed underscored the cri琀椀cal
role of the RTAB in this process, especially

as the government is developing a 20-year
Master Plan for Land Transport. He noted
that the success of this strategic ini琀椀a琀椀ve
will heavily depend on the availability
of precise and reliable data to support
planning and implementa琀椀on.
